Venice has been hit by the highest tide in more than 50 years, with the city’s mayor declaring the floods the fault of climate change.

The climate change triggered flood was"a wound that will leave a permanent mark", he said.At the sumptuous Gritti Palace, which has played host to royals and celebrities over the decades, including Ernest Hemingway, Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, the decadent bar was largely underwater.

Since 2003, a massive infrastructure project has been underway to protect the city, but it has been plagued by cost overruns, scandals and delays. St Mark's Square is particularly affected by the high tides, as it is located in one of the lowest parts of the city. Pierpaolo Campostrini, a member of St Mark's council, said the scale of the flooding on Tuesday had only been seen five times in the long history of the basilica, where construction began in 828 and which was rebuilt after a fire in 1063.

You do know Venice is subsiding? It was built in a swamp.....mud.... to be impregnable from attack. It lasted over 600 years. Excellent. Not a ClimateEmergency

SBS deleted a story from a few years back saying that bushfires in Australia had nothing to do with climate change and everything to do with bad Bush management. Didn't you, SBS?

Climate change 'didn't cause these bushfires', climate activism 'is making them worse' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says 'so-called experts' have been forced to admit 'climate change isn't the cause of these bushfires' but argues 'two decades of climate change activism is making them worse'.\n\nMs Credlin asked, 'If you were inclined to believe the activists, what's your explanation for all the other bushfire catastrophes of the past hundred years or more - starting with the Black Thursday bushfire in Victoria way back in 1851?'\n\n'Not only are the Greens insulting our intelligence claiming that climate change inaction is behind these fires, but they're also politicising a tragedy.\n\n'These days, it's hard to think of any problem that the green religion isn't making worse.\n\n'The bushfire crisis is just the latest, and currently most obvious example, of how green zealotry is contaminating so many areas of public policy.\n\n'Next time there's a flood, that too will be attributed by the activists to climate change.\n\n'Again, it's the green religion that says we can't have the cheapest form of baseload power because this might increase Australian emissions - even though Australia's total emissions each year are less than China's increases in emissions alone.\n\n'What we must never do is make things worse because our leaders shy away from the arguments they need to have and the Greens' misinformation that they must counter.'\n\nImage: News Corp Australia Sky do your job properly. Where are the fires? Where is the proposed High speed train system going. Look to the maps. Is Credlin an expert though? Didn’t realise she is a scientist Unbelievable
