SINGAPORE: Electric scooters will be banned from footpaths in Singapore from Tuesday , with offenders facing fines and jail time once the ban is strictly enforced starting next year.
E-scooters will be allowed only on cycling paths and park connector networks, though the use of such devices remains banned on roads here. There will be an advisory period until Dec 31, during which errant users will be given warnings, to allow e-scooter riders time to adjust, Senior Minister of State for Transport Lam Pin Min said in Parliament on Monday.
"From Jan 1, 2020, we will carry out strict enforcement, and those caught riding an e-scooter on footpaths will be liable for a fine up to S$2,000 and/or jail up to three months," he said.

Doesn’t anyone get it? FOOTPATH. It’s never meant for anything that has wheels. Infrastructure needs to change with the times and the needs for the people. Different paths required. Especially in HDB estates.
It doesn't solve the problems of E-scooters got killed on the roads, and may be worst as they will be zooming in and out of footpaths!
So on PCN with Cycling path should the rider go only on the Cycling path?
endorphynn The infographic is confusing. Could have done a better job in segregating the horizontal lines for a clearer distinction of 'Shared Paths' category.
Since there are a lot of fatal accident involving cars, can we ban car too please? So that be maintain logic. People walking looking at their phone are far more dangerous than the PMDs.
