Electric car surge puts Australia's power grid 'at risk' | LatimerCole michaelkoziol

said action was needed to avoid problems once electric vehicle usage started to spike beyond 2025, but it was difficult to predict the uptake even without changes to government policy.

Australia's grid must prepare now for an influx of electric vehicles or face risks to power stability in the future. The chief executive of lobby group Energy Networks Australia, Andrew Dillon, said planning was already under way for the jump in electric vehicles. Publication of the report follows a sustained attack from the Morrison government on federal Labor's proposal to make 50 per cent of all new vehicles sold in Australia electric by 2030. Electric vehicles currently account for fewer than 1 per cent of the cars on the road.who said it was set"without a strategy to achieve it", while Prime Minister Scott Morrison claimed Labor would"end the weekend" by robbing people of their 4WDs.

"I like ice-cream. And I buy ice-cream. But I'm not proposing a law that [says] 50 per cent of everybody's food has to be ice-cream," he said.

dangerAries LatimerCole michaelkoziol At the beginning of this summer Palachook told Queenslanders that if it got hot we might have brown outs or black outs as the grid might not cope.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol And that is a lot of cars on the road today

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Well der. Thank you Labor

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Yes! OMG think of all the jobs that will create and how it will stimulate the economy.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Oh we are more than ready according to idiot Labor and the Greens.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Well its a good thing then that both are growing together then isn't it. Jesus fucking wept.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol What electric car surge? You mean those scooters that seniors travel to the shops with? Stop embarrassing yourselves and start practising actual journalism. You are not lobbyists for fossil fuel companies.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Not according to ScoMo we as Australians don’t like electric cars so no worries shouldn’thavesoldthegrid whataloadidshit auspol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol You guys do realise don’t you, That this is 10 - 11 years away.. 🙈🙈

LatimerCole michaelkoziol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol michaelkoziol Are you the one responsible for the headline? Any reply to all the comments?

LatimerCole michaelkoziol You want 'risk'? Aust has 2 weeks of petrol in reserve.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Silly headline.... Bad writers.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Stupid & ignorant comment!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol We already have to turn off the A/C, looks like the black stuff ain't working, too expensive. Go full on renewable to fix this problem

LatimerCole michaelkoziol They are leading into the next story.... wait for it! We need more Coal fired power stations.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol How much notice does one need, failure to plan a policy is just outright stupidity.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol OK, Just revise the policy, instead of EVs, move towards Solar Cargo ebikes

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Not considering we have up to 51 years to do it. fear fear fear. Think back 51 years to the late 1960s. no solar power, no wind power no unleaded petrol.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Bs

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Anybody remember fraudband ? Oh of course we are living with that nightmare fttp alp Auspol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Gov need to take this seriously or else as usual Australia will be behind!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Failure to innovate is what's putting the entire country at risk. It feels like every new idea and potential benefit is met with a tidal wave resistance.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Fake news

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Schtang In 2016 Australian passenger cars did 175,899 mill kms. Using 6 kms per KWh that is 29,316 mill KWh. pa or 3,380 MW. While NSW power is maxed out in summer. Motorists with ADDITIONAL solar panels & batteries can drive according to solar power available at driving time

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Thread!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Rubbish - absolute nonsense Nine 'Entertainment'

LatimerCole michaelkoziol One further note: why is this conversation so dumbed down in Australia? It's about tradies and utes? Really? Shenzhen switched its entire public bus fleet to electric 10 years ago. Cut emissions by 50% in 5 years

LatimerCole michaelkoziol There will hardly be a stampede for electric cars! Lol- complete nonsense

LatimerCole michaelkoziol I'd like to see some comparative evidence-based assessment - Hong Kong saw a surge of 6,000 new Teslas in 2016 when the government dropped the sales tax. In total - 10,000 new Teslas plugged in over about 7 years. The lights stayed on...

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Is there a surge yet? Then why the need for government intervention? And how will inner city folks charge at home? Run a cable across the footpath! Glad I have a driveway.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Is this article sponsored by BHP or something?

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Hyperventilating again

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Oh gawd... We'll pay for the upgrade out of all the surpluses that might come in 2025 or is it 2045 budget? What's with it with this stupid drum-up-a-scare-about-EVs? Meanwhile don't worry about the planet. ScoMo's a planet fixer now that Christopher's gone.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol And going back a hundred odd years ago we wouldn’t have had enough hay to feed the horses ... Just such rubbish it’s embarrassing. The rest of the developed world must look at Australia and laugh.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol An increase in home solar/battery storage would take pressure off the main grid. What specifically is 'at risk'?

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Gee you're really heading down the toilet chasing News Crap with this rubbish. Looks like you're trying to keep a certain chairman happy with this gross misrepresentation of the report in question.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol That’s what Governments are for to plan for the future, Scott Morrison not up to it!!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Here's the media release from the report's author.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Why is it that when change brings wonderful investment opportunities the media make out it is a disaster?

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Not the best headline. Our transport systems have to be renewable within 30 years. So we have to make electric work. More public transport, less cars, would be a good start.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol What a load of rubbish! How about talking about the 5 Australian lives lost every day due to carcinogenic vehicle emissions? Care at all about your children? We already produce enough renewable energy in Aus for 100% electriccars factcheck askanexpert auspol

A_Milewski LatimerCole michaelkoziol Every silver lining has a cloud.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol It seems political not correct if someone objects electric cars. Could anyone give a real analysis how much a petrol car saving more at environment than a electric car? Please don’t forget the pollution of the huge battery and its scarce metal consuming and pollution in manufactu

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Owners should have a cap on their consumption.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol It’s a lot better than paying Coles $1.60 a litre. Oil prices have fallen to $70 a barrel from a high at $109 a barrel. At $109 a barrel we were paying $1.39 to $1.59 a litre unleaded. We’re back at paying $1.59 Thanks to Coles price rise creep up and rip-off.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol How does any government enforce a 50% take up of any technology? If ppl want to buy a new EV I am ok with that, as long as ppl are not penalised if they continue using petrol. I cannot get fiance to buy a new petrol car never mind a much more expensive EV. We need more detail.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol I guess this tripe shows again how bad the Liberals have handled Electricity Grid, if charging a few cars will be the death of it! Even though a majority would charge at home using there solar power... What a desperate Govt we have!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol WTH SHM. Idiots.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Horse drawn carts are putting Australia’s hay supply in doubt 🤔

LatimerCole michaelkoziol This is the most ridiculous politically motivated junk reporting ever. New technology, change and progress are beyond LNP comprehension. LNPfail

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Well, that’s set the low bar for journalism for the day.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Worst piece of Shit writing this year. A. Not everyone is going to Plug their EV into the grid Every night, it’s just Bullshit. B. It’s part of a larger package of reforms that Include increasing renewable and battery storage, not mentioned Poorly written and researched crap

LatimerCole michaelkoziol You don’t help your cause of wanting to be seen as an unbiased source of reported news with this nonsense. We already have a government that’s a laughing stock, having the media be one also is beyond the pale. BringOntheKiwiInvasion

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Did you even bother to check your story with our energy regulator? They have already published and say it's no problem. Irresponsible reporting with a bias is why circulation keeps falling & journalists are losing their jobs.

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Unbelievably irresponsible headline - I have been losing respect for your publications after recent sensationalism & biased headlines, and this nails our divorce! Who's pulling your strings now? ElectricVehicles ElectricCars energy auspol AusVotes2019

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Fake news

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Now it’s “there’ll be too many EVs”. We’ll all be rooned. ConservativeProgressives GangstahGreyPower

LatimerCole michaelkoziol So let’s blame the future of transport for not taking into account the failure of the LiberalAus to have a power policy. Or we could just also get a power policy? 🤷‍♀️

LatimerCole michaelkoziol that's ridiculous absolutely ridiculous, that's like saying the power grid wasn't ready for commercial/domestic refrigeration & we must stick with the icebox. Don't think so, innovation & technology troubleshoots most issues, & electric cars will be taking up gradually auspol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol So the lesson is to have a sensible energy policy, which the LNP hasn’t managed for a decade. The rise of EVs has been predicted for years, and there’s no plan to cater for this impact other than to discourage this change?

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Cars just need to become part of the system. All the cars sitting in a garage can provide a distributed sink for times of need...

LatimerCole michaelkoziol SMH if in the lead up to this election you print anti climate change policy scare mongering articles and then an editorial encouraging readers to vote Libs, I’m cancelling our subscription. The good of this country and its people is not at your heart. Shame!

LatimerCole michaelkoziol

LatimerCole michaelkoziol Well daaaah! Of course there would need to be changes to the power grid but should that stop us having a target? In 10 years people will be paying more our current ICE cars, then EV, so we need to start catch up now!
