The Morrison government’s derision of Labor’s electric cars policy has been undermined after it emerged that the Coalition has spent millions of dollars encouraging Australians to use the vehicles | nicole_hasham

The Morrison government's derision of Labor's electric cars policy has been undermined after it emerged that the Coalition has spent millions of dollars encouraging Australians to use the vehicles and its MPs routinely spruik the technology.

The ad claims that in fact, "electric cars will tend to charge between about eight and nine hours overnight".However in a media release in October last year, Mr Taylor said electric vehicles "will soon have access to an ultra-rapid charging network" thanks to a $6 million federal grant. Mr Taylor said on Monday that Labor had set an electric vehicle target "without a strategy to achieve it".

The government's current rhetoric on electric vehicles also contradicts statements by then-Environment Minister Josh Frydenberg in January last year when he"Capitalising on a declining cost curve, new investments in recharging infrastructure and significant improvements in battery capacity, the industry has now real momentum in Europe, Asia and North America, which will inevitably be replicated here," Mr Frydenberg wrote.

Sam Crosby, Labor's candidate for Reid, on Twitter cited a number of public appearances by Coalition MPs spruiking electric vehicles. The corporation's electric vehicle industry report says that without intervention, electric vehicles would comprise 20 per cent of sales in 2030, which could increase to 50 per cent with "moderate intervention".

nicole_hasham Remove new car taxes form electric cars and you’ll have 80% by 2030

nicole_hasham Funny if not so desperately pathetic auspol

nicole_hasham Sounds like Coalition throwaway. Don't recall them suggesting by 2030 that 50% of ALL new vehicles must be Electric at min $50,000. Don't recall either anyone suggesting EV's could be charged in 10 minutes when usual several hours. Must have been mixed up with his mobile phone!?

nicole_hasham A significant take-up if electric vehicles is inevitable. The market will drive that. But what is being said by Shorten and his mob at the moment is rubbish. That's the issue, not the acceptance of EVs

nicole_hasham The difference being the government are not demanding that 50% of cars be electric within 11 years. Allowing people to have a choice is not the same.

nicole_hasham spruik line before checking: recall Hockey attacking mothers who had claimed Paid Parental Leave payts as double dippers- then discovering his wife, Corman 's wife and others had all claimed the payment. feet in face

nicole_hasham As Australia no longer has a motor vehicle industry we'll be importing whatever the rest of the world builds. From now on there will be fewer and fewer petrol engine cars built, including none in China

NRMA dismisses claim Labor's electric vehicle target will leave tradies strandedThe NRMA has called for a ban on the sale of petrol-powered vehicles as early as 2025, saying global car manufacturers will soon stop building them. nicole_hasham Tradies will be able to leave home every morning with a full battery for just a few dollars nicole_hasham NRMA claim is solely based on the proposition that technology will advance to an extent to solve the problem which is tantamount to just wishful thinking and no basis in fact nicole_hasham Even the board of the NRMA has been absorbed by Labor biased climate alarmist feminists. Tradies, farmers & working Australians will loose their right to choose the vehicles they like. There will be no restrictions on jet aircraft travel for corporate & political elites.

Think about the exponential rise in the use of smart phones! A previously unknown product became universal in a decade. Once technology takes hold adoption is always much faster than predicted. Australia is well behind the G20 in moving to electric vehicles. billshortenmp I believe in CC. I am 63 and have never been able to afford to buy a new car, petrol or diesel. My most expensive car was $12,000 That was 4 years old and took me 7 years to pay off. After the RC I will never get finance to buy another. These EV's are in the luxury car price.

Minster lampooned over meme as electric vehicles debate gets weirdFederal Energy Minister Angus Taylor has left many people scratching their heads after tweeting a bizarre meme. Get Nick Whigham to so your tweets. He can spell werdz, wurds, whatever. detailsmatter LOL. If you can't tell the difference between a Petrol Pump and a Petrol Generator, you really shouldn't be reporting this. That is not a Petrol Pump. Wow! I was about to get the quote for the diesel fuel powered big power generator to charge the electric car we are seriously considering. This looks just like what I have imagined. Every morning crank up my diesel generator to power up our electric car and rinse n repeat :p
