Robinson calls for climate change action, says current system is 'underpinned by rampant capitalism'

Image: Niall Carson/PA Wire/PA Images MARY ROBINSON HAS hit out at inaction on climate change, saying the current system is “underpinned by rampant capitalism”.

“The unions are being trod upon, especially in the United States but also globally to a certain extent,” Robinson told UCC podcast Plain Speaking. Ireland has missed targets in the past and our performance in taking action against climate change was ranked the worst in Europe in a report published in December.

She's wrong, this tax will not improve anything. All the taxes on cigarettes over the years didn't nothing compared to the addition of the smoking ban. Letting certain industries off that are killing our environment & pretending to be dealing with it by taxing people is nonsense

Of course she does, she works for the elites. This is a money making hoax which enables much greater control into all aspects of our lives. Taxing the poor will not fix the environmental issues which are not caused by CO2 anyway.

Like train/metro to the airport and in Dublin (alternative for M50), developed public transportation, cheaper house clean fuels, cheap home electric car chargers and rates. Increasing taxes will not change anything. Neither will your 7 suggestions. Electric cars are not yet viable - long long way to go yet !
