Her party would not support any carbon tax increase that does not protect low and middle-income earners and did not ensure that polluters carried their responsibilities and pay their way. Unless the Government put in place measures to give families alternatives the carbon tax was a “punitive” tax on ordinary people.

This is an excuse to tax people more. It’s the workers who are paying for everything will have to pay this as well. This Government has no vision - look how long it takes them to get a decision on the Dublin metro. They are useless! They haven’t a clue except tax the same people

Don’t fall for this tax. Ireland is such a small nation, and without and large and unregulated industries its contribution to the worlds carbon footprint is negligible. Don’t get taxed to save the world 1/100000% and to make Leo look good.

Before any of the taxes, we need an alternatives. Like train/metro to the airport and in Dublin (alternative for M50), developed public transportation, cheaper house clean fuels, cheap home electric car chargers and rates.
