Following Barnaby Joyce's push for the government to fund new coal-fired power plants, division has opened up within the Coalition. AMagenda

Sky News host Kieran Gilbert says Coalition MPs who are pushing for public funding for coal fire plants are 'exacerbating' the tensions within the Coalition. Nationals backbencher Barnaby Joyce is agitating for the government to fund new coal-fired power plants in central Queensland, something the Prime Minister has rejected.

The call has opened up division within the Coalition, with Liberal MP for the urban seat of Brisbane, Trevor Evans, labelling the Nationals - who want more coal power - as the 'lonely minority that is whistling dixie'. Mr Gilbert says energy policy is showing 'the gulf' between Coalition MPs in city seats and those representing regional constituencies.
