Energy regulator Nersa gave Eskom the power to implement the tariff increase of 18.65% from the start of April.

JOHANNESBURG - Civil society organisation Stand Up SA says it is disappointed with the proposed planned tariff increase for Eskom.

But Stand Up SA said it was unfair for South Africans to pay high prices for electricity while they are forced to contend with loadshedding. The organisation’s Khustaz Mtwentwe says the 18.65 electricity tariff increase is unfair to the many South Africans struggling to make ends meet. pic.twitter.com/KblzuSbLpA

Loadshedding: Solar energy is now less expensive than EskomConsumers are taking another serious look at solar energy after Eskom and the National Energy Regulator of South Africa recently announced an 18.65% tariff hike scheduled for April 2023, with another 12.47% increase on the horizon for 2024. GasantAbarder The price has been increased to make electricity attractive to invest in and to enable privatisation. It is one of the public services seen globally as the next big opportunity to become (mega) rich - essential, not keeping up with demand and at risk from climate change.

Karpowership deal won’t stop load shedding, says OutaOuta is taking the energy regulator Nersa to court over licences granted to the Turkish company, which wants to use a power ship to add 1,200 megawatts of electricity to the grid. That's one stage of loadshedding right there. At one financial cost, I don't know. But how can SA media celebrate 155MW of wind power being added in the future to the grid, and then focus on the fact that 1.2GW won't solve loadshedding? That's obvious, OUTA must just accept that Kapowerships are part of the new generation of energy mix this country sorely need. Okay OUTASA , to adopt this attitude during a disastrous situation is wrong. You must have solar panels and lots of generators. The karpowerships are only used in emergencies. What do you suggest instead?
