Karpowership 1,200 MW deal won’t stop load shedding, says Outa

CAPE TOWN - Lobby group the Organisation Undoing Tax Abuse said a Karpowership deal was not suitable for South Africa, and was not a plug-and-play solution.

Outa is taking the National Energy Regulator of South Africa to court over licences granted to the Turkish company, which wants to use a power ship to add electricity to the grid. It wants to force the regulator to provide a complete record of its decisions to award generation licences to the company.Outa's challenge is the latest of multiple legal battles against the company which was granted permission to supply 1,200 megawatts in 2021.“Talking about 1,200 megawatts, that will maybe change a stage of load shedding. Karpowership is not the solution to the big energy crisis.

well of course not , 1.2Gw addition when we are short of 20Gw. But this is not about stopping loadshedding .

Some whites are eyeing Eskom that's why they want it to fail

Thatbis the size of Grootvlei power station that a station that must be 50 years old and small in todays standards

There's no single solution that will stop loadshedding though.

Correct 110% .. How long is this contract? What happens when these Karpowerships sail into the sunset? Will we have built another Medupi Kaseli power station? More looting😀 Who getting kickbacks here with Karpower ships? Why eskom not looked into? Why has output dropped?

All the existing Karpowerships won’t stop it, but it will buy the ANC some election time

Plugging all the leaks but no one is fixing them. They need to stop feeding the dead horse (it's already decomposing) that is Eskom & open electricity to the free market. Problem solved in a year!

Then what will? OUTA must bring solution 🤷‍♂️

Okay OUTASA , to adopt this attitude during a disastrous situation is wrong. You must have solar panels and lots of generators. The karpowerships are only used in emergencies. What do you suggest instead?

That's obvious, OUTA must just accept that Kapowerships are part of the new generation of energy mix this country sorely need.

That's one stage of loadshedding right there. At one financial cost, I don't know. But how can SA media celebrate 155MW of wind power being added in the future to the grid, and then focus on the fact that 1.2GW won't solve loadshedding?

Stand Up SA expected to march to Eskom to demand an end to load sheddingThe march aims to call for the cancellation of the electricity tariff increase which energy regulator, Nersa granted to Eskom last month. I'm glad I tried this ledy out. I have wasted too much on other platforms without gaining my profit but finally I came across this platform. I invested R1000 on her platform and within 24 hours I got R10,500 sent to my bank account Send her a DM and get started KathyDNaquin Marching will not solve the issue, maybe consider as a united front we all don’t buy electricity for a week. Use the money they spend on electricity on something else… Eish if only South Africa can stand together on this one… The problem is the ANC !
