The former head of ESB International, Don Moore, said that while the Ukraine war was 'unpredictable', the energy supply issue has come to the fore because the shortage was 'ignored'.

A potential shortage of energy supply has"nothing to do with the war in Ukraine", the former head of ESB International has said.

He said that it was clear that a shortage of supply was on the horizon, but the issue was"ignored" and it was"hoped that it would go away". Earlier, Fianna Fáil MEP Billy Kelleher warned that demand will outstrip energy supply and this could pose a risk to the security of the State.
