Households can now save up to €639 on their gas and electricity bills

After a back-breaking couple of years with sky-rocketing energy prices, gas and electricity companies are finally passing on reduced wholesale prices to their customers in a series of price cuts from all of the leading suppliers.

While the government’s €450 electricity credit is a welcome help, energy bills are still double what they were three years ago, causing one in ten households to be in arrears on their electricity bills, while one in five are in arrears on their gas bill.A typical household could now save €639 by switching to a cheaper tariff and availing of an introductory discount, says Switcher.ie Eoin Clarke.

To make your search easier, use a comparison website accredited by the CRU and have all your details, like the name of your energy provider, tariff and energy usage to hand.
