Dang Wang district police chief Assistant Commissioner Noor Dellhan Yahaya said the man was picked up a few hours after the fire broke out at 4.03pm yesterday.“The man will be remanded for six days until April 19. The motive and cause of the incident are still under investigation,” he said in a statement today. The case is being investigated under Section 435 of the Penal Code for mischief by fire, which is punishable with a maximum jail sentence of 14 years and a fine.
Noor Dellhan said a Honda RS type motorcycle, a set of motorcycle keys, a helmet, a shirt, a pair of trousers, an arm sleeve, a bag, a watch and a lighter have been confiscated. He added that police have received a total of 10 reports from the individuals affected by yesterday’s fire.
