Well, not at the moment, and not likely anytime in the near future, as the U.S. government is now considering expanding its tariffs on Chinese goods, including cars. Here's what to expect from the White House about a potential expansion of trade barriers against Chinese vehicles.

Former President Trump has promised as much as a 60 percent tariff or more on all Chinese imports if he is reelected. President Trump previously imposed tariffs on about $300 billion in Chinese goods, and likely prevented Chinese automakers from selling cars stateside so far. Many Chinese automakers setting up shop in Mexico have sworn they do not have any present intentions or plans to sell in the U.S. market.
