Sky News host Peta Credlin says 'dam-phobia' has permeated almost every level of government with no 'big, new water storages built for years'. Credlin

Sky News host Peta Credlin says 'dam-phobia' has permeated almost every level of government with no "big, new water storages built for years". Ms Credlin said given a choice between "keeping water in a swamp" or "keeping a town supplied" she'd "put people first every time".

She noted that since 1990, the population has grown "almost 50 per cent" but there has been "only a three per cent increase in dam capacity". "Regardless of climate change politics, we know that there always will be floods just as there always will be droughts. "Our forefathers... would be ashamed to see how little we build... how little we plan for the future and how much time and effort we waste with the bickering.

I’ve been saying for YEARS we need more dams, and I have no idea why the government doesn’t build them.... unless of course they want us dead...

You need mountains or hills AND RAIN it doesn’t rain much where they want dams.

so can we just rebuild the snowy river hydro scheme again and again , downstream, in some sort of tiered terrace system

Credlin is now a dam expert too.... damn that woman gets around... someone should give her a (real) job!

Peta who?

It might be because you can’t just knock one up wherever you want. As in real estate, location is the key.

Or maybe it's because EXPERTS looked at the numbers and don't think it's a good idea.... Same with coal

Out of x30 water dams x28 are dry x2 are down to 50% full. how is the the government is going to fill these water dams rain is not enough..

They are actually reducing dam sizes. Oh well more desalination plants then. So long as they force recycled sewage on us to drink.

So the RWNJs on sky who say renewables don't work because you would have to store power from intermittent sources for use later want dam's which litteraly store water from intermittent sources for later use 😂😂😂 the only thing the right do better than corruption is hypocrisy 😂

BoganLabor Palaszczuck Progressive Communism Labor are the enemy of all Australians, the economy and well-being of farmers, businesses, jobs and families. 2020 Queenslanders put Laborlast get rid of the 3 stooges Tradd/Dath/Palaszczuk

Can some one please explain to the intellectually limited Peta Credlin that you can only build dams at the base of mountains where water falls. They won't build them on properties owned by newscorp or macquarie execs. DESAL PLANTS.

aussie000050 And still no conversations or plans for any .

There will be

There's no fucking rain to fill them anyway!

This wouldn't be cause of the UN Agenda that controls us Credlin

Taxpayer-funded ABC 'not left enough' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Chris Kenny says the taxpayer-funded ABC 'is not left enough' according to some staffers, after it was revealed employee-activists are seeking to develop a staff 'brains trust' to develop ways to deal with the 'climate crisis'.\n\n'The ABC seems to be very biased when it comes to climate change issues and pushing a green-left agenda,' Mr Kenny said.\n\nABC Chair Ita Buttrose maintains the proposed advisory group is 'not going to happen' because the ABC leadership team and the managing director 'have thought otherwise'.\n\nImage: News Corp Australia You have seen the stats that 84% of Australians think climate change is real and want something done about it, yes? Fucking clowns. Finally come out of hiding. Climate change has aways been real, but your kidding yourself if you think you can control it.

Taxpayers fund broken battery system | Sky News AustraliaChris Kenny, Sky News host\n\nRemember that big battery that was supposed to save South Australia, the state that blacked itself out three years ago.\n\nWell it's been in place for a couple of years and is going well and is about to be expanded.\n\nWith even more government money, $23 million from state and federal coffers.\n\nThere is no limit to the amount of government money propping up renewable energy and the infrastructure it needs.\n\nBut there is a lot of triumphalism about this battery, pretending that its success and the expansion prove the renewables zealots were right about South Australia, that its green energy plans are working well.\nNothing could be further from the truth.\n\nSouth Australia had pushed hard to get 50 per cent renewable energy, so hard it blew up two large coal fired generators and forced out gas generators too, so that when the wind didn't blow it relied almost exclusively on an interconnector to Victoria.\n\nWhen a storm tripped out some wind farms and brought down a couple of relatively insignificant power lines on September 28 1916, a surge knocked out that interconnector and the whole of South Australia, the state with the most expensive electricity in the world, went dark.\n\nThat's when the world's biggest battery was first proposed as a solution.\n\nIt was no solution to such a crisis.\n\nIts storage could supply the state with enough power for about 5 or 6 minutes, with its expansion it could supply the state maybe for 8 or 9 minutes.\n\nThat's not its job.\n\nThe battery is there to essentially iron out the flat spots, make the grid more stable as wind energy, solar energy and baseload power kick in and out.\n\nIn other words, it is an essential part of a modern grid now, it is another additional cost needed now that we have dramatically changed our electricity grid in the push for renewables.\n\nSouth Australia's renewable energy push has been a disaster, the blackout proved it, and hundreds of millions of dollars have been SA battery saves QLD when it's coal power station broke down yet again... There fixed the headline for you 😂 😂 😂 When? And you thought the liberals were smarter. 😂😅🤣😂😂😂
