The mayor of Venice blames climate change for severe flooding in the historic Italian canal city reaching the second-highest levels ever recorded.

Mr Brugnaro blamed climate change for the"dramatic situation" and called for a speedy completion of a long-delayed project to construct offshore barriers.

But the controversial project is opposed by environmentalists concerned about damaging the delicate lagoon eco-system, and also delayed by cost overruns and corruption scandals. There is no launch date in site.

Venus sinking since the 5 CENTUARY. Venice

According to The Guardian 3 out of 4 of the highest tides in Venice occurred before the global warming scare by J Hansen in 1988. The record was in 1966. How could this one possibly be due to global warming?

So it was worse 50 years ago well before anyone talked about climate change or The Forgotten global warming

They must have a Greens dominated council in Venice

Hey ABC- it’s the second highest level in Venice- what caused the highest level? auspol

Sea level change *will* affect Venice, but sea level rise is no more than 20 cm so far in the last century. Current sea level change is about 3mm per year - where was the mayor’s outrage last year if the water was only 3mm less? Venice’s problems are local not global.

Pile up rocks on a tidal mudflat and what do you expect? Nothing to do with 'climate'. No structures built in such places or even on river deltas should be considered permanent in a long term sense.

The climate changes everyday. It’s called the weather. 🥳

Rubbish, Venice has always been prone to flooding, it's the tides and we all know that.

Climate Change, The one fits all excuse for government inaction everywhere. 🤭

Quick, blame the populist outrage. Its the easiest option.

Venice has been sinking for how many hundreds of years.. but now it’s climate Change.. ridiculous, no credibility

MAYOR BLAME FLAT EARTH !

This continuous propaganda and fake news re climate change is becoming unbearable .

The Mayor of Venice blames climate change for the floods, but now is not the time to discuss the reasons why. Maybe Scotty could send them a whole bucket of thoughts, and a larger bucket of prayers to help them through this tough time. auspol

Climate change 'didn't cause these bushfires', climate activism 'is making them worse' | Sky News AustraliaSky News host Peta Credlin says 'so-called experts' have been forced to admit 'climate change isn't the cause of these bushfires' but argues 'two decades of climate change activism is making them worse'.\n\nMs Credlin asked, 'If you were inclined to believe the activists, what's your explanation for all the other bushfire catastrophes of the past hundred years or more - starting with the Black Thursday bushfire in Victoria way back in 1851?'\n\n'Not only are the Greens insulting our intelligence claiming that climate change inaction is behind these fires, but they're also politicising a tragedy.\n\n'These days, it's hard to think of any problem that the green religion isn't making worse.\n\n'The bushfire crisis is just the latest, and currently most obvious example, of how green zealotry is contaminating so many areas of public policy.\n\n'Next time there's a flood, that too will be attributed by the activists to climate change.\n\n'Again, it's the green religion that says we can't have the cheapest form of baseload power because this might increase Australian emissions - even though Australia's total emissions each year are less than China's increases in emissions alone.\n\n'What we must never do is make things worse because our leaders shy away from the arguments they need to have and the Greens' misinformation that they must counter.'\n\nImage: News Corp Australia Sky do your job properly. Where are the fires? Where is the proposed High speed train system going. Look to the maps. Is Credlin an expert though? Didn’t realise she is a scientist Unbelievable
