Mayors from fire-ravaged NSW have criticised state and federal political leaders for failing to link deadly bushfires and climate change.

Responding directly to the comments made by the Deputy PM this morning, Mid Coast mayor Claire Pontin said she felt"cranky" when she heard Mr McCormack say that"we've had fires in Australia since time began"."We've not had situations like that. Fifty years ago, this would never happen."

"We don't have capital city greenies around here, we have farmers coming to us and saying,"look what's happened to my farm, I can't afford to feed the cows anymore because I've been buying feed for the last 18 months." she said.Bureau of Meteorology Federal Greens MP Adam Bandt suggested Mr Morrison owed fire-hit communities in Queensland and NSW an apology for not doing enough to tackle climate change.

These particular fires have been a long time coming because of many years of drought and all the dry tinder that has built up, Governments world wide are renown for doing nothing until last moment, and then the horse has bolted.... and they get paid for it.

Nice to see they all are not on 'overseas fact find missions' . Do your jobs and back burn.

No one denies climate change & drought.Mayors need to look at themselves for permitting buildings in bush, without adequate clearance, stop using plastic & encourage & inspect cleanup of properties, national parks, roadsides. The wind is the enemy, moving and changing a fire.

Yelling, psychotic, Deputy Premier. Relying on volunteers, to cover up rightist political failures to complete CriticalAnalysis, regarding RootofClimateChange. Fascistic nature, means BuisnessAsUsual GretaThunberg We must protect ourselves, its mind bending, they've lost plot

At the same time he wants inner city people to show compassion to country folk. He is an idiot.

I cannot believe that the government is in charge.....and still in denial of climate change 🤦‍♀️

Is the ABC going to address comments made on QandA in relation to the use of fire to further the causes of activists?

This ‘rebuke ‘ is fake everyone . This is how it works . It’s to make it appear that all these ‘leaders’ are all separate, when I fact they & all things are run by govn . It’s to give an illusion that the public have choices .

Climate would only impact on the frequency of natural fires, & could make less of them, it depends on the location, however these fires are not natural as the lightning strike database shows no correlation. The QLD fires are particularly suspicious.

All these fires & so many firebugs with a political agenda, really sad days indeed 😪😪.
