As Bill C-69′s potential devastation on the energy industry hangs overhead, the rest of Canada has decided to trade in rank hypocrisy over constitutional rights

The gas prices in the Lower Mainland have been going upwards past $1.71/litre as seen at this Esso on Davie and Burrard, in Vancouver, B.C., April 25.Alberta Premier Jason Kenney went to Ottawa this week with a message: Albertans are upset. Without significant amendments to Bill C-69 – which would overhaul the environmental assessment of major resource projects – the province won’t support it, he warned. He is even threatening a constitutional challenge.

Now that the Alberta government has proclaimed legislation that allows the province to “turn off the taps,” B.C. has filed a constitutional challenge to prevent its neighbour from cutting off its oil shipments to B.C. And if that hypocrisy weren’t enough, B.C. is asking the federal government, which now owns Trans Mountain,To the east is Quebec Premier François Legault. Mr.

Despite the constant reminders of the virtues of Quebec’s “clean” hydroelectricity, it turns out thatactually comes from petroleum products. According to HEC in Montreal, although sales of cars have gone down, sales of SUVs, light trucks and pick-ups have soared. Quebec happily takes Western Canadian oil, uses it and it creates a whole whack of Quebec refining and other jobs – but heaven forbid Quebec let Alberta and Saskatchewan sell it to New Brunswick and beyond.

Build a pipeline East where Canada buys foreign oil from Saudi Arabia and the middle East!

Equating cheese distribution to the trans mountain pipeline? Albertians should be upset their governance with the highest revenue in the country hasn’t put forward a legitimate economic idea to turn to clean energy but instead we get “opinion” articles from pro oil pundits. 🙄

Where was AlTA & Ottawa when NL tried to export hydro power thru PQ? No one supported our constitutional rights? Resulting in 2 disastrous hydro projects that threaten to bankrupt NL! The latest a desperate attempt to get around PQ thru NS . And still have 2000MW stranded power!

Agree!

Absolutely..most of us out West are. It's time to rethink and readjust Confederation. Canada under divisive and naive leadership has been sleepwalking into a Constitutional and now split East-West crisis. Full premiers & PM meeting needed immediately.

I believe we call them 'mentally ill' now. But yeah - Albertans are right nuts.

And so r so many in ON. Especially middle aged men who have been discriminated against on mass for 15 long yrs with Gov't blessing at the hands of the HRPA. Only in the last few yrs has this criminal act been reported on (Toronto Star). We r not proud CDN's. Fury and bitterness!

Speak to your colleagues TorontoStar and CBC.

Media stirs the pot.

MadKgrant2580 This Canadian IS pissed off!The liberal_party &the NDP (federally&provincially)are killing this great country! They are slandering Cdns, globally, for calling them out on their unethical, immoral,&criminal ways! The willfully ignorant followers of these 2 parties need to wake up!

Albertans are just plain fed up. The constant battle with the east, and now the left, has reached a tipping point. Half the population are asking if it still makes sense to remain shackled to a country in decay, economically and socially?

MHallFindlay Hey, I'm mad too … at Alberta. Does that help ?

Bottom line if any province had the federal gov targeting their major job creating sector as the libs have done to our energy sector they would be just as pissed off as we are.

Alberta is ignoring reality

Here, here! Amazed this was printed in the G&M.

Nyc good luck madam

I blame Brisson...

You know what is hypocrisy? Having an entire article about pipelines and not mention bitumen, or the thousands of km it has to traverse, or how the terminus is on the wrong side of a tiny bridge in one Canada's major cities.

Canada should work together to mitigate the climate crisis

Bogus assertions! Ottawa messed up FN consultations. This is why there is no construction Unclear how TMX tolling will eventually help or hurt 'gas prices' in BC Clear all the hurdles & there will be mass protests 1 skytrain ride away

Peewee did it

The same old story we heard for ever! Pipeline East is not for Quebec, yet to ship oil offshore. TM pipeline 2 is not needed for BC. Yet BC has to deal with increased oil tankers. Bad planning in AB, SASK overproduction. As usual AB blames Ottawa and Quebec. Look in mirror.

I love Kenney’s quote for BC. Block the pipeline and you will be carbon free by 2020. Hypocrites like John Hogan need to be exposed and put in their place!

Something peculiar happens in Alberta, something peculiar TO Alberta: Conservatives, NDP-ers (like Notley), and Liberals (like Hall Findlay) ALL happily become shills for Big Oil. Oleaginous oafs! Tsk, tsk.

And it all Ottawa’s fault!

Not the grits.
