The Energy 202: Here's why Democrats pushed to pass a climate bill that isn't going anywhere

Rep. Nancy Pelosi approaches the microphones with Kathy Castor to speak to journalists.

The measure, first and foremost, is a rebuke to Trump. It serves to reenforce the idea ahead of the 2020 election that Trump and other Republicans are undermining the nation’s commitment to rein in heat-trapping pollution. Only three Republicans — Reps. Vern Buchanan , Brian Fitzpatrick and Elise Stefanik — crossed over to vote with Democrats to pass the bill.

“Passing this bill is an important signal to our allies, and my expectation is that when we act, we’ll see increased ambition from them, too,” Rep. Kathy Castor , lead sponsor of the legislation, told reporters a day before the vote. When asked if parts of the Climate Action Now Act would be integrated into a House funding bill at a later date, Pelosi spokesman Drew Hammill said:"Our focus is on pressing the Senate to act."

They passed it to avoid debate on the more difficult issue of immigration. They are just trying to waste time. Taxpayer time.

Maybe write the story about why republicans refuse to work with democrats to ward off our imminent demise...

Bad headline Give readers a hint, otherwise few ever click the link

The GOP and communism is all about the money... leadership and power are intramural no even a second string...you heard it here first.

International Agreements are how foreign leaders limit, control, restrict actions of The American Government. Maybe if Our Government would honor The Agreement with Americans (Constitution) we would be better off that trying to let The EU Control our Government.

I think the Dems need to do more of this to paint the GOP in a negative light for Senate races for 2020 -- and House pass issues important to middle-America and swing states even though Senate will block, i.e., GOP corruption, tax increases for rich, GOP party for the rich, etc.

Democrats are too busy trying to cover their asses for their in the cabal to overthrow President Trump! MAGA! TRUMP2020!🇺🇸😎

Democratic midterm wins in 11 states lead to a wave of clean energy legislationEleven states that either flipped the governor's seat from Republican to Democrat or saw Democrats win newfound control over the Legislature in the 2018 elections, have passed or are weighing legislation that would expand renewable energy in their states. Because renewables provide a ton of JOBS! Dems need to amplify that. Wind and solar farms here in California are wildlife killing eyesores and they’re destroying our desert completely taking away the beauty. The fools are still ignoring the huge benefits of next-generation nuclear, which is safe, more reliable and efficient than wind and solar and also uses the spent waste material from prior generation nuclear plants as fuel.
