A woman shares her unconventional slow cooker method for making roast potatoes, claiming they are better than oven roasted. With heating costs rising, many households are looking for energy-saving alternatives. The slow cooker method costs significantly less to run and produces delicious results. The recipe involves parboiling Navan potatoes, coating them in a mixture of flour, salt, pepper, onion granules, and sage, and then cooking them in the slow cooker.

Not much is better than freshly roasted potatoes and one woman says her unconventional method is so good she'll "never cook them conventionally again".

Many households will be looking to cut corners wherever they can during the cost of living crisis. A traditional oven costs 63p per hour to run whereas a slow cooker is 6p, according to the Consumer Research Council. After cooling, she sprinkles the potatoes with some flour, salt and pepper, onion granules and some sage before shaking the spuds to coat them in the mixture.
