We do not believe we have to choose between preserving our environment and keeping our economy strong, writes PM Scott Morrison

Larger text size Very large text size No sole political or special interest group is the cradle of compassion for our environment. Our government acknowledges and accepts the challenge of addressing climate change. However, we do so not just with impassioned hearts – but also cool heads. We do not believe we have to choose between preserving our environment and keeping our economy strong. The Liberals and Nationals have a strong record of environmental vision and achievement.

Our new Climate Solutions Fund will deliver additional nationwide climate solutions in partnership with businesses, local communities and farmers. Agricultural projects will include revegetating degraded land and increasing soil carbon to improve farm productivity and resilience. This not only reduces emissions but has clear economic advantages, such as increasing farming income. The Climate Solutions Fund will ensure the ERF delivers a further 103 million tonnes in emission reductions to 2030.

Aushiker True, what's needed are credible policies.

Steady as she goes till bottom falls off.

Enough said

That's right..you don't need a wrecking ball to destroy BS..

...but we're used to him believing in fairy tales, so no surprises.

Um because without good environmental management we won’t have an economy, let alone a strong one. Just doesn’t get it

Delusional

Economy is only strong as growth is a superficial growth by big migrants intake pushing up demand Preserving env DOES NOT mean gov funded new coal power

Ok well how does this work

Stop being the LNP mouthpiece and go back to some decent journalism

Get in the sea 🌊 Scomo. ScottMorrisonMP

All this time in power and LNP government been asleep at the wheel. Only to wake up come election time bring out the same tired scare campaigns then go back asleep for another 3 years....

My blood pressure can not handle ScottMorrisonMP auspoI

White noise. There is no future in mind. His Pentecostal church's( his view therefore, haven't heard differently) belief in the impending second coming would explain a lot about this lying, self righteous and disgustingly arrogant buffoon.

First off all I believe in climate change. You do not have to be anti coal to believe in climate change. I am ok with the LNP stance on climate change. Coal is on the way out we all know that. Everyone needs to relax, you will give yourself ulcers

So why does he keep doing it...?

ScottMorrisonMP full of 💩!

Nobody asks you to chose? But keeping economy strong doesn’t mean by only selling coal or not to reduce carbon emissions?

that’s true - what we need is a Govt with the ability and foresight to get the balance right - let’s stop playing politics everyone and start giving a fu*k about our county

Australia need a wrecking ball to knock Morrison’s smirk of his face. 🙄

Conservative parties have done nothing but pay lip service to the environment since the year dot. If we leave it to you, you’ll keep paying off your rich mates and do nothing. We and our kids deserve better

Very irresponsible headline, - alternative policies by Labor do not in any way constitute a 'wrecking ball'; this is 🗣 opinion/spin only. Reconsidering my subscription given that your independence seems to be lip service only these days. 'Independent. With exceptions.'

He has zero credibility! The LNP are already sharpening their knives for when he looses the election!

Environment trumps everything. Without it we're all doomed.

Who is this ' we ' ?

He can say it but I don’t believe it.

We do not believe you.

Morrison and his team have been excellent on all this of late, well done to all.

It's a pretty dumb thing to say that anyone wants a weaker economy. In fact a lot of people are pushing renewable energy for the jobs that it will create. The Liberal party are putting forward this false choice because they know the voters want action, but their members don't

Mr. Morrison, the LNP have never made a choice. The environment has obviously not been your priority. We get it.

Idiot

On climate change, Scott Morrison is embracing politics as the art of the possibleThe Prime Minister will need to lead the way in selling the Coalition's climate policy to the public. These Morrison puff pieces dressed up as ‘analysis’ are wearing pretty thin. The anthropogenic climate change myth is ALL about politics, and nothing to do with science, or even reality for that matter. At the end of the day, it's the general public who will bear the real cost of this scam on humanity. Awesome work, well done.
