A vote to outlaw rental e-scooters in Paris has passed with 89% support. Last year electric scooters were responsible for three deaths and 459 injuries in Paris – a 42% rise compared to 2020.

Parisians have voted to ban ‘nuisance’ rental e-scooters over concerns of the ‘dangers’ they cause.

Voters at the polls described the vehicles as ‘accident-prone’ and expressed concern over the number of accidents they were involved in. He wrote on Twitter: ‘The scooters clutter out streets. They are stored on sidewalks, are poorly parked despite the dedicated spaces, they are dangerous obstacles, especially for seniors and people with reduced mobility.
