People will be facing increased costs on a number of items and services from today, including their council tax, mobile and broadband, while businesses face hikes in their energy bills.

Corporation tax is going up six percentage points today to 25% for business with profits exceeding £250,000.Tina McKenzie, policy chair at the Federation of Small Businesses , said:"This week sees the end of meaningful energy support for most small firms, alongside rising employment costs and increases to corporation tax.

Alex Veitch, director of policy at the British Chambers of Commerce , said:"Changes on corporation tax, water bills and the minimum wage are all extra costs that businesses have known were coming. But when piled on top of energy bills they make it a difficult start to the new financial year. "The government is unlikely to see the economic growth it desperately needs when so many businesses are still fighting to keep their heads above water."Businesses will see massive hikes in their energy bills because the government's energy bill relief scheme comes to an end today.

These included things such as easing the burden of VAT on energy bills and funding for improved business energy efficiency. Most will have received £400 from the government in the form of discounts on energy bills from late last year - so about £67 a month. Well, your last instalment of that was in March - it's over now.

Greedflation?

You mean face higher costs on ‘everything’, not just certain items.

Yep. And all the Conservatives do is bang on about CultureWars and SmallBoats Neither of which, will help the average person pay their increased bills!!

Until people take to the streets and start doing things like France then this will keep going. It’s about as simple as that.

Basically more fucking up the arse by wealthy corporations

Well we know who NOT to vote for next general election,

'All's going to plan now zat vee have pushed zee reset button vor zee Great Reset. We penetrated zee cabinets vith our young leaders and dat has ensured vee vill achieve all our aims of not going back to zee good old vorld vich vee had.' Ja grandad Klaus!

Thanks to the incompetence of this Tory government!

Put that on a bus 🤦‍♂️

Conservatives: good with your money.

While many of those private companies receive record profits. Welcome to the United Kingdom.

Sky putting their bills up too. Mine is up £10 a month as of today. 🙄

This country is on its arse. Getting fucked left and right

Sky news must make more news about cost of life than boris johnson

Yeh more and more screwed thanks RishiSunak

Must be the fault of the people on boats from Calais

And Gary Linekers wages

Can Rishi explain how he is dealing with this and Bailey explain how pushing up rates helps rein this in… i’ll wait…

All this cos we sending billions to Ukraine 😂😂😂

Smart phone and broadband costs increase every year so nothing new. You know that when you take out a contract. Council tax increases discriminate from Council to Council where the richest Councils Band D is far less than the poorest. That needs resolving sunak.

Sweet! I was just thinking, these things aren't costing me enough money! I'm so happy to help contribute even more of my wages, that don't increase at the same rate as these costs, to execs taking home millions in bonuses.

But if you demand pay corrections it will cause inflation.... So here is inflation and now you don't have any wages left to pay for it.

I wish this WAS ab April Fools joke 😟

It’s getting out of control. You’ve got to hand it to the global elitists. They’ve managed to make folk have very little spare time, they’ve dumbed us down and given us so many distractions with apps/phones etc… that we can’t even be bothered to protest about it.

Sky news is ran by Jews

So much for the Tories promising to halve inflation

I'm willing to show 10 lucky people on how to earn 0.53 BITCOIN ($15,000)and more daily. No withdrawal fee You don't get to send funds to anyone Interested DM now

April fools?

Another con folks, so benefit increase working, non working example tax credits your entitled to council tax reduction. Now because of benefit rise, this is now removed, & your local greedy council will screw you over for full year so your increase is stealthly taken back.

. . . . The non elected Asians are looking after their own and drowning the ppl who's land it belongs to.. . ******* GET THE F✓CKERS OUT ***** . .

Welcome to Britain

It's the Tory way, get used to it unless you vote them out

Like it does every year🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️😉😥

And no doubt a rise in debt, poverty and crime .

And we're getting less services for the inflated prices, can't really access a GP, people struggling for a dentist, and the police are a disaster can't fill 20k recruits and those they have recruited wouldn't have got in 10 years ago

The cost of living crisis is manufactured by the media and big business

UK is FUBAR RishiSunak

Time to get out on the streets and Riot

Food is busting out here in La France with an example of sugar at +40% on the national tv last evening news

Everything except wages

You do know that you are meant to represent all of the UK? No meantion of the 1ppt increase to the higher and top rate of tax in Scotland which are now not only kick in significantly earlier than England but are now 2ppt more at 42% and 47% respectively.

Crude Oil has gone from $120 to $75 & Natural Gas has gone from $10 to $2, so why aren't prices going down 50%?

It’s being jacked up on purpose ! Inflation isn’t the case it’s pure greed !

It seems we, the consumers, are the April fools!

If everyone stops paying there way then what

What a time to be alive 😋

So much good news I can't keep up .

What's new it's hard to exist these days never mind to live and have hope

People blaming Brexit,Government trying to blame Covid,Tories blaming the war in Russia/Ukraine

APRIL FOOLS!

Remember when people said printing currency units out of thin air to close the economy would cause inflation 🤔

Now't new every year is the same prices up, I'm disappointed the SO CALLED POPULAS HERE PERMITS IT, GOVERNMENT ain't going to stop them there part of it, this is a race of work work work then drop dead.. Poor.

Tough times for most! Although in Coventry we are use to paying heavy increases every year on Council Tax.

This continuous “Cost Of Living Crisis” is really getting out of hand now and not helping anyone as everyone is struggling to pay. The government needs to do more to support people. Times are hard and it is really sad and shocking to see that things are only going to get worse…

Our water bill has gone up by £50 a year not the £31 in the report, so thanks Severn Trent for the rip off fee.

Be funny when everybody has no option but to rig there electric , go looting and just causing general fkn chaos won’t it

Dear Ukraine, we need the money back now, please.. thanks in advance.

Every thing except wages

So, everything else can go up but wages can't. Great logic!

Don’t you mean everyone is being robbed again?

Is this an April fools?
