Germany will build new gas-fired power plants to be operated with hydrogen as Europe's biggest economy looks to boost its climate-friendly energy sources, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said on Tuesday.

"We are not losing sight of the goal of decarbonization: in order to stabilise supply, we will build new gas-fired power plants which can be operated with

hydrogen in the future," Scholz said in a speech to the VKU local utilities association.Reporting by Andreas Rinke Writing by Madeline Chambers Editing by Miranda Murray

Now, how are large quantities of hydrogen made?.

glynmoody How does this make any kind of sense? Where will they get the hydrogen?

Dear Germans Hydrogen as a power source isn't supposed to be burned. You have been -and rightly so- told hydrogen is a clean power source. That's valid if you use a fuel cell+oxygen. Not of you burn it like a hydrocarbon. You are being shafted again, like with the lignite.

umm, err, sure, sure, sure.

Good! Innovate and build… Leave those Russian f&$ks behind in the dust.

goodjob

They will need a power station to produce the hydrogen though 🔄

🤣

This is the plan?

What is “hydrogen embrittlement” 😬🤣

Maybe don't put Germany and gas in the same sentence.

So many communist bots has taken over Twitter.

how r they supposed to get hydrogen?

🤡🎃🥱

Sea water electrolysis in case of oversupply of renewable energy.

This is what you get when you give your national defense to others.🤣🤣🤣

And the hydrogen grows on trees or what? All this greenwashing nonsense, wth

Methane would be more appropriate for the spineless guy!
