The updated setup offers the same total system output of 408 PS as before, and both AWD models continue to offer the same acceleration times and top speed of 180 km/h. Of more significance is the introduction of a rear-wheel drive electric powertrain for the SUVs, which Volvo says is the first time in 25 years that is offering a RWD product. This replaces thethat it previously offered, and the new Single Motor RWD variant offers 3% more power thanks to the in-house developed electric motor.

In the XC40, the new figure is 460 km instead of 425 km, while the C40 improves to 476 km from 438 km. DC fast charging at 130 kW will bring the battery from a 10-80% state of charge in about 34 minutes, the company noted.
