As part of the package the Commonwealth will provide up to $1.5 billion of support to households and businesses which will be paid through state governments by directly reducing people’s bills. Senators Lambie and Pocock have at times formed a brief voting bloc in key negotiations with the government, but the newly-elected ACT representative has sided with the Greens in presenting a minor obstruction to the legislation.
But Senator Lambie warned her colleagues not to stand in the way of much-needed relief to households. The Prime Minister said both the caps on coal and gas would likely decrease power bills by $230 when the measures begin to kick in during the second half of 2023.

WA seems to be doing ok. They put in a gas reservation plan before allowing the resource companies to extract the gas. same thing does exist on a federal level to force the gas companies to provide gas locally at a set price but every fed gov is too gutless to use it.
