“Providing such massive subsidies essentially to make gas and coal cheaper means people will use it more often and we’re gonna have more fossil fuels in our economy making climate change worse,” Ms Bennett said.
“So on the one hand this will help consumers in the short term, on the other hand the government’s probably not doing itself any favour trying to reach its emissions reductions targets in the long term.”
Don’t do it. It will cause shortages.
