Veterinary nurses have launched an 11th hour bid to stop an animal hospital in Melbourne’s southwest from closing.

It was initially thought the university planned to close the hospital on December 19, but staff have since been advised this has been moved up to Monday at 12pm.said the university is trying to shut the animal hospital’s doors with “as little scrutiny as possible”, and they want the commission to deal with their dispute.

The University of Melbourne has treated us like we’re nothing and has brought forward the animal hospital’s closure in a deeply cynical effort to stop staff from taking action in the Fair Work Commission to stop it. The university was hell-bent on closing U-Vet against the wishes of the staff, the community, and Victoria’s best interests, she claimed.

Chris Bowen is a Goose

The Greens should try and force the government to bring in a windfall profits tax. I think the rest of the Cross bench would support them.

Askgerbil Where is the scientific economic model to back the policy? There is none.

Look around your room and guess how many products were made of/from/by oil? Now look and see that all of it traveled on a truck that runs on products made from oil.

'That criticism would have been valid if we just had sent cheques to households.' So to stop inflation the the government can just part pay the supplier for things that people purchase?

Anyone with basic economics knowledge will recommend against interfering with a free market. May not be popular but its the right 'adult' thing to do. Moving into a dangerous realm of price caps, favoritism ,never ending supply of subsidies and bailouts

To reduce the cost of living is simple..burning more coal!

Don’t listen to the politicians, just look at your bills.

Energy package is no ‘magic bullet’ but will take sting out of price rises: BowenEnergy Minister Chris Bowen has accepted the Energy Price Relief Plan will not 'solve all the problems' in the energy market but insisted the Government took 'decisive action' to protect consumers from price rises. It will cause more problems and solve none.

Albanese government takes ‘no backwards step’ when it comes to energyEnergy Minister Chris Bowen says the Albanese government “takes no backwards step” when it comes to acting on rising energy costs after price caps on energy resources were announced on Friday. “A new capacity investment scheme, which will unleash billions of dollars of stored, dispatchable renewable energy right across our country,” Mr Bowen told a press conference on Saturday. “We had 4 gigawatts of energy leave the grid under the Liberals, and only gigawatt come on, that’s a part of the reason why we face this energy crisis.” It’s called kicking the can down the road Liar, we do *not* import coal from Ukraine or Russia. Energy minister defends federal government's plan to relieve impact of rising power pricesChris Bowen concedes the federal government's plan to ease household energy prices will not be a silver bullet, but is the biggest lever it has to try to alleviate spiralling costs. End the self-harming sanctions on Russia and ditch the war on coal. He's Minister for Blackouts isn't he...😏 Blame Russia meanwhile Russians pay a fraction of what we pay for electricity. They could easily legislate a policy where the small portion needed for Australian electricity generation is free. But they wouldn’t be able to bleat about “renewables” being cheaper if they did that
