Eye-watering energy price rises have left millions of people worried about the cost of turning on their heating as sub-zero temperatures hit Britain this winter.

Jasmine Birtles: Yes, it won't happen - particularly if you are on a contract, a direct debit.

Actually, a lot of them do have money to help. It tends to be one-off payments, but all the major energy suppliers they have, frankly, a few hundred pounds to give in certain circumstances if you qualify, so go first to your supplier and, as Helen says, try Turn 2 Us. Absolutely, and people are very worried. And I think sometimes it is the fear that is so harmful to their health. They are thinking about looking after themselves, they are thinking about looking after their families.

Being in too cold of an environment really increases your risk of strokes and heart attacks and it is just not worth it, so we need to be checking up on people and unfortunately sometimes we may get bills much higher than wanted, but we do need to keep warm.

But I'm hearing quite a number of people who are rather concerned about control - a lot of their information being known by goodness knows who.

I believe we are missing a point. Stop listening to media hype & ridiculous tips, ' go to bed early' hot water bottles, turn heating off in rooms not used, etc. Just turn on your heating, keep warm & safe, & F*% the energy companies then don't pay - they can't cut everyone off

Stop voting tories

Patronising shite. The media should be lobbying for energy company’s to accept lower profits to protect those in need.

Buy a hot water bottle and don't vote for the tories 😏

But what about the World Cup and Harry and Meghan? Are you off those topics now?

Bet the heating is on full blast in the migrant hotels..🤨

The consequences of allowing an autistic teenager to dictate energy policy.....

Stop the Green Party and we will not have a lot of these problems any longer. This Green Insanity IS the root cause of much of this unnecessary suffering.

So i live Costa del Sol Malaga. Weather 20 ish day time and mid teens at night. Half board hotels do fantastic offers for older people this time of year for 3 months at a time. No you won't have a white Christmas but you won't complain about the cost of existing either.

Nationalise the energy companies. We don't need 60 plus companies Backdate the cap 12 months No disconnection during winter months and pay meters no more expensive. Unfortunately this is just a dream.

I’m sure none of the suggestions by the “experts” included abandoning the descent into medieval tech to satisfy the God of cLiMaTe cHaNgE

Question: should I wear a coat when going out? I have no idea what possible questions could require an expert to answer. It gets cold here every winter, we know how to deal with it.
