Energy Minister Chris Bowen refused to divulge the Federal Government’s final decision on Sunday morning around gas caps but said it would take “responsible action”. Mr Bowen noted that both levels of government were “working together” and pulling the levers at their disposal as they navigated the energy crisis.When pressed about Labor’s election promise of reducing energy bills by $275, Mr Bowen doubled down and refused to concede that it was not possible with soaring energy rates.
"Of course, that was a modelling of the impact of our policies. And the fact is that this pressure in the system means that the transition to renewables, which we promised in the election campaign, becomes more important, not less."
