In a 6-3 decision, the nation’s highest court determined that the Environmental Protection Agency doesn’t have the broad authority to regulate greenhouse gas emissions from power plants that contribute to global warming.

In a 6-3 ruling, The Supreme Court sided with the coal producers and several states.WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Thursday sided with coal producers and several states in a dispute over the Environmental Protection Agency’s power to regulate carbon dioxide emissions, curbing the agency’s ability to fight climate change.

“Capping carbon dioxide emissions at a level that will force a nationwide transition away from the use of coal to generate electricity may be a sensible ‘solution to the crisis of the day,’” Chief Justice John Roberts wrote in the court’s majority opinion, joined by justices Samuel Alito, Neil Gorsuch, Brett Kavanaugh and Amy Coney Barrett. “But it is not plausible that Congress gave EPA the authority to adopt its own such regulatory scheme in Section 111 .

The Supreme Court stopped the plan from going to effect in 2016, and former President Donald Trump later repealed it in favor of rules that were more fossil-fuel-industry friendly,The government argued that the EPA had the authority to carry out the Clean Power Plan based on its power to regulate certain pollutants from existing sources under the Clean Air Act.

Justices wrote that under the EPA’s interpretation of its authority based on the Clean Air Act, “Congress implicitly asked it, and it alone, with balancing the many vital considerations of national policy implicated in the basic regulation of how Americans get their energy.”Among the rules included in the Clean Power Plan, coal producers could purchase emission allowances or credits as part of a cap-and-trade program aimed at facilitating the shift to cleaner energy sources.

“The Court appoints itself — instead of Congress or the expert agency — the decisionmaker on climate policy,” Kagan wrote. “I cannot think of many things more frightening.”Thursday’s ruling is expected to affect more than just the EPA because of its reliance on the major questions doctrine,

If that’s the case, then clearly we don’t need an EPA since it no longer has any authority. Disband it and stop funding it immediately, but instead they’ll simply keep it intact to continue funneling money elsewhere.

Look up federalism

So they want women to have unwanted babies or die having one that they do want but they don’t want them to have clean water or air This court is a joke.

Read the USConstitution. SCOTUS is right, they are giving our country back to WeThePeople. Weird how all of these deceitful bureaucrats own multi-million dollar oceanfront estates even in Florida.

It's good to know America is continuing to be at the forefront, leading the way forward in all aspects... You know, just like ancient Rome.

Hmm !! Guess coj and Mayor Curry should have made JEA wait before they blew up that efficient Coal power plant at Dames Point few years ago and others because of Obama EPA regs and go full go 'Green'..maybe over bills wouldn't be getting higher as Summer is here

Wait I thought it was climate change, I’ll have to put up my “global warming” decorations again😂, 🤡 station

Supreme Court limits EPA in curbing power plant emissionsIn a blow to the fight against climate change, the Supreme Court has limited how the nation's main anti-air pollution law can be used to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from power plants. Cue the excitement from the drooling ignorant that think we can pray away the pollution. let me fix this 4U: Supreme Court rules that Congress can’t abdicate it’s responsibility to unelected bureaucrats (as they are wont to do so they can keep getting elected by not getting their hands dirty with difficult and unpopular decisions) Good. This means Congress has to vote and do their jobs. The people win here.
