Sky News host Erin Molan says when it comes to nuclear energy it seems people on the street are “more informed” and “open to the discussion” than a lot of politicians.

“There’s so much stigma around nuclear energy still, and it seems to be more on the political ranks than with everyday people,” Ms Molan told Sky News host Peta Credlin. “And look, it’s not every politician who is opposed to this—Matt Canavan has been going on about it for ages, David Littleproud was on my show last night talking about the advances in technology which have just been incredible.”

How would Erin know, did she have electricity in her Barbie House?

It’s hard to think of a nation more ideally suited to nuclear energy that Australia.

Why are cooling towers always pictured. They are harmless. There are small versions on many city roofs, ensuring the air conditioning equipment doesn’t overheat. The media has no imagination or integrity.

MortyAUS Spoken like a Liberals Senator daughter full of crap. Oh look Erin is…….

The old truck: if you can’t find a quote that pushes your barrow, get someone on the payroll to make it up. thatsnotjournalism MurdochGutterMedia

That’s fine. We can build Australia’s first nuclear reactor right next door to Molan’s home.

“Erin Molan says” is not the convincing intro you think it is.

Informed about the potential consequences or 'Facebook expert informed'?

The stigma comes from a combination of massive cost and time blowouts in current nuclear builds, waste storage and a host of other issues. Let's suppose it will take 15-20 years to production, in the same time technology cycles will deliver a lower cost renewable alternative.

People on the street know this is diversion crap. They take years to build, are not cheap to run, they are a risk to terror or accidents and destroy land eg Fukishima and Chernobyl. By the time we build one of these we can be close to 100% renewables

They appear to be

LOL I would say the exact opposite People in the street have been duped into thinking nukiller is 'cheap' and suitable for a high variable % grid

Erin Molan !!! Talking about nuclear energy !!!

she is right, and doing well in her new job

As expected. After all, lobbysts do not lobby people on the street.

erin_molan says....lose all credibility there... just another talking head on SkySpews who will say whatever she's told to say...

NewsCorpse 💀are pushing nuclear because it allows them to delay any action on climate change decades into the future at which point it will be too late given we already have catastrophic fires and flooding.

That only because they don’t have a finger in the pie all there $$$$ are in Other forms of power

Sports reporter Erin Moylan

senatorbabet Yeah just we we were during COVID!! But you still ignore that one ☝️

I love a Sky News headline. Host with no academic background related to said topic, guesses that a left leaning politician knows less about said topic than a random person on the street, probably. Newscorpse FTW!

Who would have thought that Sky News Australia would be using the old “people are sayin” argument to try and undermine a government that they have been undermining for 20 years. Most Australia’s are aware of the games that Murdoch plays to try and put his selected leader back in

The football show host? Daughter of conservative ideologue Jim? OK cool... there's an opinion worth it's weight in... nope... not worth a damn thing

LOL

I wonder if there is some secret communique from the Bank For International Settlements warning Australia not to develop our ample nuclear resources

You got that right Erin.

Resident expert

Erin who? 😂

What utter garbage

Erin Molan ..LOL 😂

If it comes from Sky, you know it's a lie.

Would that be the renowned climate scientist and energy expert Erin Molan?!

Cool, let's replace Erin with a rando off the street...

As Orwell said, no common person could be such a fool as to believe the things the 'intelligentsia' do.

Uh huh

Why is Sky trying to normalize Nuclear energy. We don’t want it in Australia

Independent sources say it is cheapest, you get the most bang for your buck, but the govt says it isn't. We have uranium. Its easier to maintain a nuclear plant than keep replacing solar panels, and we need foreign materials for solar panels, I think.

How lucky are we that Sly Views has the renown nuclear energy expert Erin Molan on staff to provide informed commentary ...

Not sure many of them would be happy to have a nuclear plant near them and they definitely would not want a waste storage centre.

Poor stupid Erin…not up to commenting on Rugby League…not even competent at making shit up

Agree…JimMolan seems way out of his depth on every issue confronting Australians….

Erin's father is the Butcher of Fallujah. Erin needs to sit down.

So your GOOGLE is broken. Start here & then check the science!! Australia has never built a nuclear power station, and we are not currently planning any. In fact, it isn't a legal option – they are banned in every state and territory.

Erin Molan is a crumbmaiden!!

Erin Molan 🤡

Can anyone from the Labor camp please explain what exactly is wrong with nuclear?

senatorbabet True.. at Pre-Poll quite a few Greens volunteers were open to nuclear.

Nuclear energy experts are walking the streets and talking to Erin Molan? Did she ask them if they were interested in designing, building and paying for a fission reactor, too?

what a load of codswallop ... it seems ... what does this mean what is blatantly obvious is that people on the street and a whole bunch of people (sky news) who should be on the street SEEM to know more than a whole bunch of scientists - go figure

The least informed seem to be those in News Corp not doing their homework. Erin do you realise the government have already looked at this only three years ago? There were 360 submissions to this report nuclear technology for Australia.

People on the street know it is uneconomic and unsafe

Correct!!!

Nobody who gets news from the MurdochGutterMedia is informed.

'More informed' = fed BS by right-wing media

Conservative Media promotes Conservative nonsense. News at 11.

There're 2 prevalent Dogma's about climate change. 1 It's a hoax. 2 The World will end soon. Both are Wrong. The Only time they are right is when they call out each others BS. Modern Nuclear, not 1970's, Modern, is One of the Tech's Needed to Save the Planet! Thrive not survive!
