UBS analysts reckon the market may be missing one of Mike Cannon-Brookes’ big reasons for investing in AGL Energy.

Developing software that could manage and trade power generated by roof top solar could be part of Grok Ventures’ plan for AGL, according to UBS.Following a recent meeting with Cannon-Brookes’ Grok Ventures, UBS came away with the impression that Grok saw an opportunity to use AGL’s big customer base and generation footprint to get into new technologies.

“While we do not believe a scale product exists yet in Australia, the right tech could fundamentally change the future of energy generation“We believe Grok sees a major future opportunity in orchestrating BTM power flows at scale .“If a new scalable trading platform could be developed, using AI to solve multiples of instantaneous customer load profiles into trading algorithms, it could win the race for orchestration.
