Sky-high gas prices are pushing electric vehicles further into the spotlight as of late, as more drivers think seriously about going electric.

Sky-high gas prices are pushing electric vehicles further into the spotlight as of late, as more drivers think seriously about going electric."Gas prices are a big reason why I'm considering switching my relatively new sport utility vehicle for an electric one," he said in an interview. The average gas price across Canada was $1.70 per litre Friday, according to the Canadian Automobile Association , up 38 per cent from a year ago.

"Owning an EV means you never have to drive by the sign outside the gas station and worry about what price you might see," she said in an interview. Kyriazis says that prices are likely to come down, however. The price of batteries used to power EVs are already dropping due to factors including growing manufacturing capacity, higher demand for batteries from leading manufacturers and new battery cell and pack designs, according to a November 2021 report from strategic research provider BloombergNEF.

There are some additional incentives: there's a federal rebate of up to $5,000 and a growing number of provinces and territories offer rebates as well. He also likes to go on a lot of road trips, so the lack of charging stations in remote areas is something he is thinking about.

American auto aren't all bad.

It is Trudeau's fault!

We are being forced into a system of being perpetually controlled at every place in life. Canada is no longer a free country. Its citizens are subjects whether they understand this or not.

If we can afford it!!! Even Hydro increasing prices. Monopoly very hurtful to any economy.

Seriously CTV?

Give me a break people are dying in Ukraine and you greedy people are worried about gas prices

I have a question! If we all buy EV's how are we going to charge them? At some point the demand will surpass the production of electricity. Who's going to pay for the new plants, will we use oil, gas, coal, nuclear. Solar and wind can't generate enough to meet the demand

Who has time to sit and wait for your car to charge when your traveling plus try to find a place that has charges. No thanks. Stop fuel up and get back on road within 20 minutes.

We’re not ready for Electric. Most residential properties don’t offer charging stations.

Have you not received an electric bill lately? Not much lower than gas bill!

Rki009 Bought 5 tanks of gas in 2.5 years with my 2017 volt

imma say fuck the law and make my own car

Ahhhhhhhhh NO…..

Survey was taken on Bay Street in Toronto

Haha where do they charge these vehicles is the better question… anyone get a monthly utilities bill lately in Alberta

Who can afford EV's Not the lower class or middle...

So tell us how people can afford a E car with the cost of living is of the chart like 40 year high . And aE car cost 60 grand and there are not enough charging ports .

Do they think electricity will be cheap?

If you can afford or need a $45K EV then you make the appropriate analysis. I'm good with my gas unit even at $2 per liter. The problem is UR not buying a $45K Toyota hybrid, a product that you are familiar & comfortable with. An EV may be an unknown adventure for many. 🍵

takes quite of a bit of time & juice to charge them, not to mention how bad it is for the environment to MINE lithium for those batteries, they haven’t figured out yet how to recycle these lithium batteries so they bury them, just like the wind mill blades, it’s not amazing 🤷🏻‍♀️

Never!

Maybe the government should step up and bring prices back to reality!!!!!

Yeh right , if you can afford to gas up your car how the fuck are you going to afford a $100,000 car , wtf

Cause that’s what they want. N they can shut off EVs if they choose too.

If your in the market already maybe. But to run out and take out a loan to save money is not saving money.

What about gov't-maintained soaring real estate prices/rents that have turned a basic human need: a roof over ones head, into an unaffordable, unavailable luxury? THIS is becoming the only barely practical alternative: 'Happy camping, have-not suckers!' (-your governments)

ONE EV needs 500,000 lbs of rock excavated using diesel to create. As usual the FAKENEWS are hypocrites

Anyone who thinks this is more efficient than fuel is out of touch with reality

CTV has really been beating the Liberal drum all day with this one.

🤣😂

Yes just spend 40 or 50,000 on an EV and save money on gas… You’ll soon be even – not!

🤡🤡🤡

If you can’t afford a L of gas, you sure as hell can’t afford an EV soooo who IS buying them

I’m seriously considering the pipeline instead

And who says a carbon tax wouldn’t work….

They will only be cheaper to operate until government start taxing the Christ out of electricity too!

I hope to have a Tesla by this time next year

Tesla = Blackberry ❕🤔

The wait for one is 12-24 months, no thanks

I would be a EV in a moment if I could afford one.

And I see your practice of spamming clickbait continues, so I’ll be reporting this post, and each subsequent time you post it, as spam.

How are you so consistently wrong 🤔 ClimateCriminals ClimateScam

I'd rather look into a smaller daily driver with better fuel milage

With the rising cost of gas, and the cost of housing in the cities going through the roof, it's no wonder. Only people still resisting this are 'car guys' who are actually an unserious bunch anyway.

Maybe raise wages and make it more affordable....provide incentive like you used to

I dream of converting a classic car into an EV.

Those cars aren’t worth 💩 in our cold climate because batteries 🔋 aren’t too performant in sub 0 temperatures

I am all about finding alternatives to help save the planet. But electronic cars are not the answer, they are not cost efficient to buy and certainly not to replace a battery. Also the cost of electricity, install a plug in your home and country charging stations are hard to find

I have a perfectly good cell phone that doesn't charge/hold a charge. How many EV owners here have had to replace an EV battery? Until it's cheaper I'll drive a cheap fuel efficient ice car less frequently.

What EV’s are even available in Berta?

wait 'till the cost of those E.V.s goes thru the roof...

🤣🤣🤣 it's really not.

I won't. A gas car is around 30k, an electrical, I mean, a good one, not a 100kms battery life, is around 100k. So, even if gas is at 2 per liter, it will be less expensive that paying a loan of 100k for a car. Now, If you have a 5.7l motor, this is not only stupid but expens

Our “soaring gas prices” are only JUST REACHING what the UK and EU paid DECADES ago. Your privileged view needs to REMEMBER context. EVEN on TWITter… 😡

The same EVs that are 35k + and rely on warm temperatures to function adequately?

Can’t afford gas but can afford a $60k + new EV? Gotcha

I have not owned a car in three years and frankly I have not been happier!

Not me!

Go try to find an EV right now ! Lmfaooo good luck

Well, maybe not that serious🙄

Canadians need to seriously consider where their electricity is sourced and ALL the costs associated with hydro damns….. the carbon footprint of the construction that is never made public. via RAVENtrust

EVs are not the answer. Car culture is extremely destructive and far too expensive. Get an ebike instead.

Tesla is the best

Not

The power grid does not support everyone converting to ev’s. Also, where does everyone think the electricity come from?

When will EV drivers start paying Road Tax?

Push towards higher electricity bills because the roads don’t fix themselves! Good luck with that

That’s the gov plan all along

Hah I wish! People love their gas too much to want to switch. They can't stop guzzling it.

In Sask they have no rebates for going green and buying an EV. In fact, they charge you an extra $1000 for buying such vehicle. Stuck in the stone age in a backward facing province.

EVs are not readily available or affordable.

Have those same 61% considered the cost of electricity as demand surges as well as the challenge with the grid to provide all that required electricity? Someone must have done a study on that correct?

Eventually it’s EV or running shoes. Oil know it along with the auto industry.

Or a new pm?

I thought about it. But then with some quick math, EV car up front cost too high and gas car still cheaper with high gas prices. Plus no EV right now other than Tesla is appealing. So the up front cost is far too high. Would take decades of gas savings to even out the overall $$.

Be prepared for a $20-30,000 bill in 6-9 years to replace the battery on a small car. Probably double for a truck/SUV. Battery cost plus installation or your resale value is 0. Check with your dealership before you purchase

nobody can afford to go ev if people could barely pay for another car.

Fake news

Nope

Where is the proof for your headline? Did u poll 100 people, age 20 - 30 in Oakville Ontario? Stop the BS headline

🤮

Will not save anything by going EV.

Nope.

Good!

Can a Tesla owner on this post tell me what a battery replacement cost is for an EV?

Electricity isn’t cheap either… just sayin…

Unfortunately our industry doesn’t have that option. Operating costs get passed on ve6dpa

I'd like to see an actual realistic cost of ownership on EV tech. In particular with the cost of hydro exponentially increasing, is it really cheaper than gas? Not against the idea but the average Jill n Joe in a condo needs to understand what the cost of ownership really means.

Where is all the power going to come from for EVs?

Paid for by the NWO Fuck0ff

That's the plan

That's not true most Canadian people can't afford to buy one stop spreading fake news

Is there really a shortage of gas in Canada ? Why the high prices.

Ask your landlord when they plan to install that 240v rapid charger in your parking stall. Then ask when they are going to install separate meters for each stall cause I am not paying for Joe's EV charging sessions. Or, you could just buy a Honda Fit and sell the Ram 1500.

And so many people have n Canada can afford a E car . For 60 thousand bucks. Can I right that of income tax time lol

Give me 100 grand and will by plus no hydro here so that’s going to cost you another 50 thou thanks

I've considered it, I can't afford one.🙄 Thanks for continuing to illustrate how out-of-touch you are with average Canadians

Trading in a ICE for an EV makes no economic sense

Lol till more EV drivers then cost of electricity will raise as well

Nope

No, it isn’t, fakenews . Unless they have zero car payments as it is, and they are city commuter’s, EV’s are completely impractical for Canadians.

Canadian who have above average household incomes. And there are no parts being produced with materials held up with both the pandemic and now the war. Wait list is very long. Not an option for most

I’m expecting a crunch to come soon for chargers and electricity supply. I don’t think wind mills will cut it. Watch them use natural gas backing up the fans. 😀

Wow that’s a revelation . Where would you invest money if you’re industry was being pushed out the door ?

I already do, but I am waiting for fordnation to give us some incentive again 🤷🏻‍♀️

It would help if leaders provided rebates to make the transition easier. Now is the time. It doesn’t help when leaders like Ford of Ontario, cancel incentives for consumers.

Some of us just drive less. I moved closer to work 25 years ago and have walked every day since. Never wanted to be a slave to big oil as they go through their death throes.

Myself and all my neighbours have taycans and hummer EVs on order . Average price 165000

We should have started 20 nuclear projects 15 years ago. We didn’t, so this doesn’t work anymore.

Proof? The cars are 70 k, who the fuck has that for a feasible car purchase. So what they can’t tax on Electricity the same way 🤣💀 I have an EV and a hybrid coming in the next few months. They will decrease our gas consumption by 80% and monthly costs by around $250. Very excited!
