Nuclear fusion is the energy process that powers stars, with a low radiation and tremendous energy output.

The White House held a summit yesterday on fusion, which could someday become a major source of carbon-free energy. Fusion is made by pressing atoms together to create heavier ones.

The latest $1.5 trillion appropriations bill from Congress included $45 million for a new fusion program in which private companies will partner with DOE to build new fusion energy devices. It’s part of a record investment in fusion that will send more than $700 million to DOE’s Fusion Energy Sciences program.

“We need firm energy resources, ones that you can turn on when the wind doesn’t blow and the sun doesn’t shine,” said Steven Cowley, director of the Princeton Plasma Physics Library. Fusion energy “is exciting, and it will solve climate change,” said Carly Anderson, a partner at Prime Movers Lab. “But we’re here because there is a business opportunity here to really create the economy of the 21st century, and we want to be part of it.”

“This is one of the few industries where you can build really megalithic companies,” Kantor added. That potential upside and the growing pool of investment dollars have “really translated to venture capital being willing to put money behind this stuff,” she said.

Been touting this as 'just ten years away' since 1970.

tampanancy9 Yeah, let's cripple America by conducting a war against our only practical energy source because we can maybe get nuclear fusion to work in fifty years or so.

There is no climate crisis and climate change is natural... it is all an agenda

How do you prevent the Neutron flux from quickly degrading the reactor vessel?

To tackle climate change ban coal and see if the planet cools

What’s your definition of low radiation. All fusion reactors produce large amounts of fast neutrons.

Nuclear, schmuclear....we have had that tech for 70 years....and still we have an energy crisis. Save Energy! collect photons.

There is no nuclear model that explains why the surface is cooler than the ionosphere. Can't sell that package any more. Plasma Physics defines the nature of such exclusion zones whereas particle physics is eyeball deep in ad hoc quanderies.

Plasma physics rules

White House must stop fighting the climate crisis that is not exist. It all about the Sun, Earth orbit and its tilt, and wobbling of the Moon. You can do nothing about it. Thermonuclear energy will be impossible to use because we need to have reactors whose size the same as star

“We have to act on climate change so our country can win the 21st-century economy” Ohh, so it’s not about preventing our extinction, ok…

Why not free energy like Tesla showed us

We need way more than 0.7 billion to tackle fusion. The potential rewards are incredibly high. Why spend virtually nothing?

I wonder if household nuclear batteries will ever be available.

Great in 10 or 15 years. JoeBiden will be long gone. He will be in his basement starting in January for 2 years. His complete mismanagement of energy will be his legacy.

Why not unicorn farts?

Nah! 70 years of research has proven that energy required to control output; is larger than energy produced. Photovoltaics is the only way to collect fusion.

It also creates black holes.

Sigh. 50 years too soon. We should go heavy fission FIRST. Then start investing. Def the way of the future but easily a generation too soon for commercial use.

This is hot fusion but cold fusion is also possible if muons could be made cheap enough to replace electrons in a hydrogen atom. Quantum tunnelling is the key to fusion as not even the sun's gravity alone can force protons to fuse. Not common knowledge.

That is why China send excavator to moon to mine H3

Yea right… for 2075….

Yeah, because no one has considered NuclearFusion in the last 70 years until JoeBiden came along! 😜😂 and dont forget about those SolarPanels in orbit beaming power down to Earth !! 😂😜 Lol ... Science in 2022 🤡🤡🤡

70 years of nuclear fusion research and no model suitable for the market. Yep that sounds like Hydrogen powered vehicles.

The White House will pitch magic fairy dust before they will talk about curtailing our use of fossil fuels.

'tremendous energy output'. Who is your copy writer? Donald Trump?

I see Chain Reaction and The Saint sequels on there way!

Some more cover-up to do more research in fusion bomb technology. Hydrogenbomb

We've been 20 years away from a viable fusion reactor since 1955. 67 years later, we're still 20 years away. Solar and wind power are mature technologies. Battery storage facilities are managing load spikes. Fusion hasn't broken even yet, but give it another 20 years. [==*==]

Tout? Going on 50 years of research, no commercial viability

This, of course, further highlights the Primary Concern regarding Everything-Energy Post-HCS: Energy-OverAbundance. Please ignore any concerns related to commercial-viability. E-O is considered inevitable and will have the most negative impact to the Post-HCS MN-IPs.

Too bad it doesn't work. We'll, I guess somebody's making a bundle from it.
