An EPA study has found 96% of people believe climate change is real, while 90% believe the country has a responsibility to act on climate change. It also found 79% of people said climate change should be a very high or high priority for the Government

The survey, entitled Climate Change in the Irish Mind, asked 4,000 people about their attitudes and beliefs around climate change and their opinions on government policy.

EPA Director General Laura Burke said the findings of the survey "clearly demonstrate that the Irish people overwhelmingly recognise the threat, feel personally affected and want to see real change". Dr Anthony Leiserowitz, Director of the Yale Program on Climate Change Communication at Yale University, who worked with the EPA on the survey, said the results show there is basically "zero" climate denial in Ireland.
