One of Australia’s largest advertisers, supermarket giant Coles, has welcomed signs of an imminent shift on coverage of climate change by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp

and declared that it expects its media partners to share its commitment to protecting the environment.

The reasons for the shift in perspective are unclear, but News Corp insiders have indicated that pressure from advertisers may have played a major part. Rupert Murdoch’s global media empire has faced growing international condemnation and pressure from advertisers over its editorial stance on climate change, which has long cast doubt over the science behind global warming.

Australia is one of five countries that have not committed to be carbon neutral by 2050. Like Australia, Singapore has not committed to a net-zero date while Ukraine, Kazakhstan and China have agreed to be net-zero by 2060.

This would be the major reason why the Murdoch media has eased it's climate change stance. They don't want to lose their advertising revenue stream, absolutely nothing to do with saving the planet and all of it's inhabitants.

🤑🤑🤑

Pleasing to know that Coles corporate conscience is easing with that news. 🙃

Lets face it Murdoch is well aware that the Libs are on the way out. He thinks if he starts along this path if Labor gets in ( which they will) he'll be able to influence them too. Unlikely.

News Corp’s climate change shift is welcomeThe decision by Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp Australia to end its editorial hostility towards carbon-reduction policies is long overdue. But it marks a significant change in direction for the media business. JFC how deluded. Must be humiliating working for Are you ludicrously naive or culpably complicit in this screamingly obvious deception? . Long overdue! That's an phenomenal understatement. Murdoch lobbied the public to abolish the carbon tax & vote out Labor governments that wanted to progress the implementation of climate change action. Murdoch is personally responsible - we know what you have done.
