Almost 40% of sharks and rays are now endangered, it was revealed at the World Conservation Congress in Marseille.

But a global drive towards sustainability in fishing methods appears to have counteracted over-consumption in several areas.IUCN director Bruno Oberle said at the World Conservation Congress in Marseille that the tuna recovery is"the demonstration that if states and other actors take the right actions… it is possible to recover" from the devastating impact of climate change.

Elsewhere data revealed that more than half of all bird of prey species are declining worldwide, and 18 species are critically endangered.

Can we stop killing them also? Shark fin theft kills far more every day

For-tuna favours the brave

FFS… does that mean I have scrap my car and walk everywhere now to save sharks?

I have to say, I’m a little happy about this news , as I am not partial to a Shark sandwich.

Overfishing is what is killing them. Articles like this are kind of insulting because there are plenty of real symptoms of climate change.

John West must be making a packet

Putting aside the obvious environmental issues and thinking only of my fear of sharks and love of a tuna sandwich- this is good news!

John West will mess that right up for the tuna now, nice one.

Sharks have been around since the Paleozoic and have survived not only many climate change events but even the worst mass extinction events in earth's history.

Shit, so who going to eat all the Tuna ? Could we perhaps ask the Japanese to step up to the plate By the way, what’s Tom Cruise had to eat today

I like tuna

Love to see the proof of all this, funny there’s never anything just a sky news headline to go on 🤔

John West will be happy.
