Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has attacked the Coalition as incompetent and said the idea it could implement a nuclear energy industry in Australia was “farcical”.

Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has launched a blistering critique of the Coalition’s nuclear ambitions and labelled the proposal “farcical” and an “economic catastrophe”.

“What we’re dealing with here in 2024 is a Coalition so-called plan that hasn’t lasted a day,” the Prime Minister told Chief Political Reporter Kieran Gilbert. The Coalition faced a minor hiccup on Wednesday when Nationals deputy leader Perin Davey suggested power plants would not proceed in towns without community support.

“Every state and territory where its proposed have rejected the proposals, even the Queensland LNP are saying they don’t want a bar of this.
