Qantas Chairman News

Richard Goyder,Qantas

Qantas has announced its chairman Richard Goyder will depart the beleaguered airline early as he faces shareholder pressure at Woodside Energy, where he is also chairman.

Qantas announced its controversial chairman Richard Goyder will depart the embattled airline early as he faces shareholder pressure at Woodside Energy, where he is also chairman.

Mr Goyder is currently facing investor pressure at Woodside after the energy giant shelved a $1 billion deal to sell two major oil and gas projects in Western Australia. The outgoing Qantas chairman faced similar treatment last year when the airline copped accusations of price gouging, anti-competitive behaviour and selling tickets on flights it had already cancelled.

The outgoing chairman was booed at last year’s Qantas AGM after shareholder Chris Maxworthy was asking a follow-up question about Mr Goyder’s decision to allow Mr Joyce’s share sale and the shareholder’s microphone was switched off.
