Readers worry about the back and forth on immigration laws; advocate for electric cars; and weigh in on carbon-free power.

The recent drop in electric vehicles sales is likely due to the public not being educated in the different options they have. I have owned a Volt since 2013 and have not paid for gasoline since. It is a plug-in hybrid. For those of you who feel that your battery might lose power on a longer trip, this could be your best option, although the newer electric cars generally have sufficient distance for most trips.

The Public Utility Commission plan for improved reliability of the grid does not exclude the building of more solar and wind. But it does require enough generation for control and stability to be built.
