Police are investigating how an electric car on promotion inside Westfield Liverpool suddenly accelerated forward, smashing glass and injuring two men.

Shoppers have been injured at a western Sydney shopping centre after a car on display inside the mall hit members of the public.

A man in his 50s was treated for minor head injuries, and another man in his 30s was treated for chest injuries. Both men were taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition. A crime scene has been established as police continue to investigate what happened. SafeWork NSW is also expected to launch an investigation.An eyewitness, who asked not to be named, said he was sitting nearby eating a sushi roll when he heard a “bang, bang, bang” and people screaming.
