Climate lawyers could control the future of American energy, not consumers

The state of California has filed a lawsuit against some of the world’s largest oil and gas companies, claiming they deceived the public about the risks of fossil fuels blamed for climate change-related storms and wildfires that caused billions of dollars in damage.

In the case filed by the city of Honolulu against Sunoco and other firms, the Supreme Court last month wasfor the first time to assess the merits of whether the case should even proceed, rather than just its court jurisdiction.
