Sky News host Steve Price has encouraged the “contest of ideas” surrounding the country’s energy future as there seems to be a rational debate brewing over the need for Australia to embrace nuclear energy. Parts of regional Victoria and Melbourne on Tuesday copped severe weather which brought down power lines, leaving hundreds of thousands of Victorians without power. Mr Price pointed out the people who had gas were still able to cook and use showers during the blackouts.
“Bring on the contest of ideas, let Australians go to an election and decide for themselves with their vote whether they want to take advantage of globally significant reserves of coal, gas and uranium,” he said. “Let's just hope the Opposition has the bottle to hold their nerve and let the election result fall where it will.
