Controversial Bill C-69 for environmental review of energy projects to get major changes in Senate GlobeBC

Sen. Grant Mitchell, who sponsored the bill in the Senate, said it won’t be easy but 'absolutely it will get done.'The federal government’s promised overhaul of environmental evaluations for energy projects is poised for a major Senate surgery, but the upper chamber must race to pass the bill before an election guillotine sends it to the shredder.

Those amendments won’t be proposed for several more weeks after the committee agreed Thursday to take its study on a nine-city tour. It has promised to finish its report to the full Senate no later than May 9. Sen. Grant Mitchell, who sponsored the bill in the Senate, said it won’t be easy but “absolutely it will get done.”

“We welcome the Senate taking a serious look at this legislation, and we have consistently said that we are open to amendments put forward by the Senate, should they strengthen and improve the bill,” McKenna said in a written statement Friday. This week alone, the premiers of Alberta and Newfoundland and the energy ministers of Saskatchewan and Ontario presented to the committee.

GlobeBC Complete dismissal or rewrite. So many flaws in that unneeded piece of legislation.

GlobeBC gmbutts will be dissapointed. His hard work to kill the resource sector is being undone. Good thing he is gone. Just imagine the pressure he would be welding if still puppeting Trudeau.

Alberta premier warns new energy project bill could make oil slump worseCritics say C-69 will deter investment in Canada’s energy sector Less than 100 words. 3 paragraphs. This article wasn't even worth posting. If our federal government and premier are not 100 percent behind the oil & gas industry, it will fail and pull Alberta's economy down with it. In a world where fossil fuels are under attack, a full-blown counter insurgency is needed. A 'balanced' response will not be good enough.

Too little too late. Drop the writ so we can move on with someone who doesn’t take months to realize things we’ve been saying all along.
