A decision to extend the life of NSW’s largest coal-fired power plant, Eraring, by two years could be made in days as the government seeks to guarantee the country’s energy supplies. Energy Minister Penny Sharpe said she hasn’t considered how much the decision could cost taxpayers but claims are growing the cost could stretch into the billions. The NSW government is particularly concerned about this summer’s bushfire warning which could lead to an energy emergency.
