On Monday, Nov. 7, the Department of Fisheries, Forestry and Agriculture issued a news release saying it was processing requests from wind energy project proponents for temporary wind monitoring activities on Crown lands. The department said the process was not part of the ongoing Crown land nomination and bid process being undertaken by the Department of Industry, Energy and Technology. It is also separate from the environmental assessment process through the Department of Environment and Climate Change.
On Nov. 8, Industry, Energy and Technology Minister Andrew Parsons told the CBC that some areas had been removed from the final map of areas of interest in the bid process, including the Lewis Hills and a section of the Long Range Mountains.
