Speaking of electric scooters: Are there regulations governing the operation of electric pedicabs that travel much faster than when under human exertion? Walking along the sidewalk adjacent to the harbor is now a dangerous undertaking at dusk or later in the evening.The pedicabs attempt to dodge pedestrians and other pedicabs while competing for speed and decibel projection. A calm evening stroll at the waterfront is shattered by the piercing noise and harrowing speed of swerving pedicabs.
I fear that absent enforceable rules an evening walk along the waterfront will assimilate playing dodge ball, with pedicabs randomly hurling toward pedestrians, weaving in and around other pedicabs, startling citizens, conventioneers and tourists. Who is in charge? I know it’s not me when a pedicab is racing toward me.
