“Changes will significantly impact on the number of qualifying vehicles available within the threshold and as a result, push the purchase of a new ZEV out of reach for many British Columbians,” NCDA CEO Blair Qualey said in a statement.

The ministry said it is providing a grandfathering period of 30 days to allow customers that are currently in the ZEV buying process to receive a rebate for a vehicle that is no longer on the eligible vehicle list. To receive a rebate for a vehicle that is no longer eligible in the program, the dealer must provide proof of one of the following criteria:

B.C. has one of the most aggressive ZEV targets in North America. The province aims to have 90 per cent of new-vehicle sales be ZEV by 2030.
