Energy Switching,Martin Lewis

British Gas, OVO, EDF, Eon and Octopus customers are being warned to take action over the weekend as the energy price cap change was unveiled.

Martin Lewis issued an urgent warning for households that get their energy from British Gas, OVO, EDF, Eon and Octopus to log a meter reading within the next two weeks. The update comes after Ofgem’s new energy price cap was revealed.

Ofgem’s new energy price cap is set to kick in from Monday July 1st so taking a reading before the switch will ensure households are billed at the correct prices depending on when they used the energy listed on their bill. Households can take a reading a few days after the price cap changes with only a minor discrepancy. Additionally, some energy suppliers will also allow customers to backdate their readings, so Brits can take the reading now but only submit it at a later date.
