According to an article in a Bloomberg publication: “The average government expenditure per capita across Africa is approximately $500. These funds go toward servicing a country’s debt, building infrastructures, developing institutions, paying salaries, defense, security, education, healthcare, and social protection programs.
“The situation is worse in rural Nigeria, where 7 out of 10 people are poor. Note that 70 percent of Nigerians live in rural areas. The Northern part of the country is worse off , but the Southern parts are not immune from the problem. There is absolutely no excuse for the massive gap between rich and poor in this oil-producing country. Why should anyone be struggling to survive at gutter level on a continent that is so blessed with numerous natural resources?
